What is an applicant tracking system (ATS) and why and how do companies use it?
Many employers use applicant tracking systems (ATS) to process job applications and manage the hiring process. Applicant tracking systems provide an automatic way for companies to manage the entire recruitment process, from receiving applications to hiring employees.
The information in the database is used to select candidates, test candidates, schedule interviews, manage the hiring process, verify references and complete the contracting paperwork.
Applicant tracking systems are also used to comply with regulations and track candidate sources, where the candidate found the published work. my. in a job exchange, directly from a company's website, through a reference or from another source.
When an applicant requests a job online, their personal information, including contact information, experience and educational background, curriculum and cover letter, are uploaded to the database. Information can be transferred from one component of the system to another as the candidate moves through the hiring process.
For example, business recruiters can review applications, send automated messages to applicants to inform them that they received their request, online tests can be provided, the hiring manager can schedule interviews or send rejection letters and human resources personnel can use the same information to put people on the payroll once they are hired.
These integrated systems streamline the recruitment and application process for employers
