Do you want to give up your work and do not know how to do it? Keep reading the article below learn about what must contain (and what not) a letter of resignation
There are many reasons to give up a job, whether personal, work dissatisfaction, or because of having received a better job offer. No matter what the reason, it is essential to step aside in a respectful manner, in order to be on good terms with your bosses and colleagues. You never know what will happen in the future, so you must take care not to tear down the bridges that have cost you so much work.
When resigning, it is best to talk face to face with your superior, explain the reasons why you have decided to change jobs, and thank you for the opportunity and learning you have gained during your period as an employee in the company.
After this conversation, you must submit a letter of resignation to the Human Resources department. This letter must be clear, concise and cordial. In turn, it must contain these three parts:
The beginning of your letter must record your resignation, what position you leave and how long have you been in this position. If you wish, you can also clarify the reason for your complaint, although probably your boss already knows it. The latter is optional, but if you include it remember not to extend yourself too much.
We present, some example, a possible introduction:
[To whom the letter is addressed]
Of my highest consideration:
I hereby inform you of my resignation from the position of [Your position] that I have held since March 2, 2018, in your organization. This decision responds to strictly personal reasons / to a new job opportunity.
After the paragraph in which you submit your resignation, it is appropriate to include a brief thank you to your employer, stating that the experience lived in the company was positive for your professional development:
I would like to thank you for the responsibility that was assigned to me, as well as the support and collaboration I received from all the staff during my time in the company. During this period, I had the opportunity to learn about aspects related to the field of sales and marketing, a knowledge that will be of value throughout my professional career.
Finally, let the company know that you have the necessary disposition to make your departure as less harmful as possible to the organization. It is not necessary to go into too much detail, and you should not make promises that you will not be able to fulfill.
Also, I would appreciate it if you can consider July 15, 2018, as the date of termination of my labor relations with the company. During my last weeks of employment, I will be at your disposal to train the person who will replace me and perform the necessary tasks to facilitate the transition.
Without another particular, I say goodbye cordially,
Remember to adapt this model to the culture of your company, but always maintaining the tone of respect and good disposition. If you have complaints or concerns to raise with your boss, the resignation letter is not the means to do so.
